Vol. 184 No. 1

Written Answers. - Average Rents of Local Authority Houses.

110.

asked the Taoiseach if he will indicate generally, in convenient groups or ranges, the average rents of local authority houses in each county, which entered into the compilation of the consumer price index of August, 1960, and the number of houses in each group, range or sample.

The rental data for local authority dwellings included in the consumer price index relate to the figures for total weekly rent (including rates) of all occupied rented dwellings. The relevant material is compiled once a year in respect of the month of November. The particulars are not obtained in a form, which would make it possible to classify the dwellings in each county into different groups based on the level of rents paid. The following statement shows for each county, county borough and for Dún Laoghaire Borough the number of occupied rented local authority dwellings, together with the average weekly rent (including rates), for which data were included in the consumer price index for November, 1959, the latest date for which the information is available.

NUMBER of occupied rented dwellings owned by local authorities in each County, County Borough and Dún Laoghaire Borough, together with the average weekly rent (including rates) of such dwellings in each area as used in the compilation of the Consumer Price Index at mid-November, 1959.
