asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state separately in respect of each county council the number of men employed on direct labour works on 30th September, 1960; the total for all county councils; the number employed on contract works; and the rate of wages paid to road workers on the same date.

The information requested regarding the rates of wages of county council road workers at the 30th September, 1960, is as set out under the heading "Current Rate of Wages" in the reply to Question No. 119.

As regards numbers employed, figures in respect of all county councils are not yet available for 30th September, 1960. Following is the position at 31st August, 1960.
