Vol. 184 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Betting on Greyhound Tracks.

44.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the total turnover of the totalisator at greyhound tracks to date, the amount accruing to Bord na gCon from the tote, and the amount obtained from the levy on bets with bookmakers.

The accounting period of Bord na gCon is the calendar year. The Board's accounts for the year 1959, presented to the Dáil on the 28th April, 1960, showed the amount received by the Board from levies on bets with bookmakers as £111,356. 5s. 11d. As the totalisator was not introduced to greyhound tracks until 1960, information in regard to turnover and income therefore will not be available until next year when the Board's audited accounts for 1960 are furnished to me and presented to the Dáil.
