asked the Minister for Local Government what proposals are before him at the present time from the Limerick Corporation and the position in each case; and what proposals from this body have been sanctioned by him in the past six months.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Proposals* for which approval is sought

Present Position

Roads:

Seven road improvement schemes proposed for execution under the current year's grant from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote were received on the 15th instant. The estimated cost of the works is £12,250.

Schemes are under examination.

Installation of traffic lights at two city junctions.

Received 29th August, 1960—under examination.

Reconstruction of Courtbrack Avenue

Further information regarding this proposal was requested from the Corporation on 22nd September, 1960.

Housing:

Sketch layout for Greenhill-Tank Field Housing Scheme—approximately 145 dwellings.

The proposal was discussed, with officers of the Corporation on 21st instant. Agreement was reached subject to further examination of proposed service road.

Proposed purchase of No. 7 Rutland Street for conversion to flats.

The planning aspect of the proposal is being examined in the Department.

Application for supplementary loan for completion of 157 dwellings at Carey's Road.

The Corporation are being informed that the issue of a supplementary loan of £17,200 from the Local Loans Fund is being recommended to the Commissioners of Public Works. Proposals for financing the provision of 18 shops in this housing scheme are also awaited.

Sanitary Services:

New city watermains

Acceptance of tender sanctioned. Proposals for financing of scheme awaited.

Caherdavin Sewerage Scheme. The scheme is being undertaken jointly by Limerick Corporation and Limerick County Council.

Contract documents approved. Proposals for financing of County Council section of scheme are awaited.

Amenity Schemes:

Improvements at Rosbrien, Corbally, Shelbourne Park, Jamesboro', Russell Park and Garryowen.

The schemes are being examined.

Sanctioned since 1st April, 1960.

Housing:

Prospect Hill Scheme

The Corporation have been notified of approval in principle subject to minor amendments in layout and house plan.

Garryowen—Pennywell—Link Road Scheme.

Approved on 16th June, 1960.

Sanitary Services:

New watermains at South Circular Road and Roxboro' Road.

Tenders approved. Loan of £16,000 sanctioned.

Galvone Main Drainage Scheme.

Acceptance of tender and loan of £21,000 for financing of scheme approved.

Amenity Scheme—Erection of wall between Corbally Pool and Diocesan College.

A grant of £1,252 from the Employment and Emergency Schemes Vote was allocated for this work on 21st July, 1960.
