Vol. 184 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Emyvale (Monaghan) Water Supply and Sewerage.

4.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether a scheme has been submitted to him by the Monaghan County Council for a water supply and sewerage system for the town of Emyvale, County Monaghan; and, if so, when he proposes to sanction it.

Contract documents for a water supply scheme and for a sewerage scheme for Emyvale were submitted to my Department and certain alterations and revisions in both sets of documents were recommended by the county council. Revised contract documents have not yet been received.

Can the Minister do anything to expedite this matter? Apart from the desirability of providing this amenity for the people, perhaps the Minister is aware that this is a centre which can be sensibly developed in connection with the work of the Inland Fisheries Trust. There can be no development from the tourist point of view, unless and until these schemes are put into operation.

I do not quite know what I might do about it but I would certainly wish to do something, particularly in this case because the delay since we returned the documents is a lengthy one, more than, usually lengthy.

Perhaps the Minister would inform the county council of that?

It looks about the only thing left for me to do.
