Vol. 185 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Minor Employment and Bog Development Schemes.

15.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of applications on hands as at 31st July last for grants under (a) minor employment and (b) bog development schemes applicable to each of the electoral divisions of (1) Asdee, (2) Beale, (3) Gullane and (4) Lislaughtin, County Kerry, and the number of schemes sanctioned under (a) and (b) above during the current financial year with the money allocations for each scheme.

The electoral divisions of Beale and Lislaughtin did not qualify for grants under Minor Employment Schemes in the current year in view of the limited number of men in receipt of unemployment assistance residing in the areas in question. No applications for Bog Development Schemes were on hands from Beale electoral division. Eleven applications under Bog Development Schemes were received for Lislaughtin, and five bog development grants of £60, £200, £170, £120 and £100 were sanctioned for that electoral division. Nineteen applications were on hands for Asdee electoral division, and two Minor Employment Schemes grants of £375 and £150 were authorised. Eight applications were on hands for Gullane E.D., and one grant of £150 was authorised for that electoral division.
