Vol. 185 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment in Shannon Airport Industrial Zone.

36.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total number at present employed in the industrial zone at Shannon Airport.

The total number employed in factories in the industrial zone at Shannon Airport on 17th November, 1960, was 272. In addition there were 246 workers employed on construction work in the zone.

That represents a fair share of the 100,000, does it not?

Could the Minister say how many were formerly unemployed in this zone?

I could not give those details.

It is a separate question.

I might mention that the capacity of the industries is about four times the number employed at the moment.
