Vol. 185 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nenagh Sewerage Dispute.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the dispute that exists between the textile factory at Nenagh, County Tipperary and the County Manager relative to a proposed connection to the public sewer, and of the resultant danger that the proposed building extension may not be proceeded with; and whether in order that the extra employment which would result from the extension may be assured, he will make enquiries in the matter with a view to having the dispute settled.

Various representations have been made to me concerning the difficulties which have arisen in regard to the disposal of surface and roof water from the factory of Nenagh Textile Mills Ltd.

While I am anxious that everything possible should be done to resolve these difficulties, the Deputy will appreciate that the matter is one, in the first instance, for settlement between the parties concerned and I am not at present in a position to intervene.

I understand that arrangements have been suggested to the firm for the interim disposal of the surface water pending completion of the major sewerage scheme.
