Vol. 185 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Housing Demands.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the increased demand for houses in Galway City owing to the starting of new industries; what steps he proposes to take to meet the increased demand; and when he proposes to take such steps.

I have approved the proposals of the Galway Corporation for the provision of sites for private housing and for the preparation of plans, contract documents, etc. for further local authority houses. I understand that the Corporation are at present examining the desirability of acquiring further land for housing and ancillary development.
