Vol. 185 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Roscommon Drainage Problems.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to undertake a survey of the listed drainage problems which were submitted to the Corrib Drainage Office over 12 months ago from the Cloonfad area in West Roscommon.

The list mentioned covered thirteen items. Surveys of nine have been made and in four of these cases the persons concerned have been notified of the decisions taken. Surveys of the remaining four cases will be completed in a month or so, but one of these involves a swallow hole and underground channel, and observation and tests into the summer of 1961 will be needed before a decision is taken.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that very important afforestation work in this area is likely to be held up, unless this drainage work is undertaken, and in these circumstances, will he see that there is no delay in undertaking the work?

I am not aware that there is any afforestation work involved but I shall inquire into the matter.
