Vol. 185 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Places of Historic Interest or Scenic Beauty. Measures Against Despoliation.

1.

asked the Taoiseach when the Government will be in a position to introduce the legislation referred to by him in the Dáil to safeguard from despoliation places of historic interest or scenic beauty.

The Local Government (Planning and Development) Bill, 1960, which was introduced today, will include provisions dealing with the matter referred to in the Question.

May I take it then that this Bill will be implemented in time to protect the amenities of the Powerscourt Estate in County Wicklow?

I can give no undertaking about that.

Then the answer is "no."
