Vol. 185 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Application to Adhere to the G.A.T.T.

2.

asked the Taoiseach if a decision has yet been reached on the application made by this country to adhere to the G.A.T.T.

The position regarding the preliminary discussions which have been taking place with the Contracting Parties as to the terms on which Ireland might accede to the GATT is that the Contracting Parties have arranged for the continuance of these discussions during the second stage of the GATT Tariff Conference which is due to commence early in 1961. Consequently, no final decision has yet been reached in the matter.
