Vol. 185 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wheat Purchases Abroad.

5.

asked the Taoiseach the amount of wheat bought abroad from the 15th September, 1960, to date, and the price paid for such wheat.

The only relevant information available to the Central Statistics Office relates to the actual imports of wheat in each calendar month. I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the quantity and average price per cwt. (c.i.f.) of unmilled wheat and wheat seed imported in each of the months September and October, 1960. Particulars of imports for the month of November, 1960, have not yet been compiled.

Following is the statement:—

QUANTITY of wheat imported and average price (c.i.f.) per cwt. in each month September and October 1960.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary be good enough to indicate to the House the average prices paid?

The price in September for unmilled wheat and cereals was £1 5s. 0d. per cwt. and in October it was £1 6s. 7d. The price for seed wheat in September was £2 11s. 6d. and in October £1 14s. 4d.

Are those c.i.f. prices?
