Vol. 185 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Schools.

54.

asked the Minister for Education the areas in County Kildare in which it is proposed to carry out (a) the erection of new schools, (b) the extension of existing schools, and (c) the renovation of and repairs to schools during the next financial year.

Work on the erection of Caragh, Straffan, Tiermohan, Newtown and Kildangan National Schools is likely to commence during the coming financial year and also the extension of Droichead Nua Boys', Maynooth Boys' and Nurney National Schools.

No major schemes of renovation of National Schools in County Kildare are under consideration at present.

My Department has approved of the erection of a new vocational school at Naas to replace the existing school. It is expected that building work on the project will commence during the financial year 1961/62. It is proposed to have an extension to Athy vocational school provided during the financial year. No proposals for renovation and repairs to vocational schools have yet been submitted to my Department.
