Vol. 185 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Employment on Mayo Forest.

57.

asked the Minister for Lands why farmers who have agreed to sell land to the Forestry Division of his Department at Ballyclogher, Balla, County Mayo, have been refused employment at the forest there; and if he is aware of the hostility engendered by this action not alone in this area but in many other areas where prospective sellers were anticipating employment.

The area held by my Department at Ballyclogher is too small to justify the employment of a greater number of men than the two who are already employed there. The matter will be reconsidered if and when additional lands are acquired in the area.
