Vol. 185 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: Nos. 1, 2, 5, 6, 14, 15, 16, 17, 9, 18, 10, 11, 19 and 20. Private Members business will be taken at 9 o'clock. I understand that No. 5, the Supplementary Estimate, will be introduced shortly and will be ordered for 7 o'clock this evening.

Can the Taoiseach tell me when No. 23 is likely to be circulated? The Taoiseach will remember that was a Private Members' Bill introduced by me some 18 months ago.

If the Deputy will ask the question tomorrow I shall give him the information.

In relation to No. 37, I would draw the Taoiseach's attention to the fact that this was discussed yesterday before the Committee on Procedure and Privileges and it was decided that it was in order. Would the Taoiseach say now whether he will give time for it before the Dáil rises?

I have made up my mind that, if I am expected to answer questions of that kind, I must get notice of them in advance.

We are giving notice now. We can raise it tomorrow then.

Could the Taoiseach tell me what the answer is?

He wants notice. Tell him you will raise it tomorrow. You are giving notice now.

I give the Taoiseach notice now.

So far as matters now stand, we assume the Dáil will meet tomorrow from 10-30 a.m. to 5 p.m. That could possibly be changed by agreement with the Parties in relation to the progress of business today. No doubt any agreement that might be reached and any arrangement that might be made would want to be indicated to the Dáil.

Might I suggest the usual channels will meet at 7 o'clock and there could then be an announcement by the Taoiseach at 8 o'clock?
