Vol. 185 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Collisions with Parked Lorries: Fatal Accidents.

4.

Major de Valera

asked the Minister for Justice the number of fatal accidents resulting from collisions with parked lorries during the year 1959-60 and in 1960-61 to the most recent date.

The statistics available do not distinguish between lorries and other mechanically propelled vehicles. The number of fatal accidents in which parked vehicles were involved in 1959 was 12. The figure for 1960 to date is also 12.

I wish the Minister for Local Government knew about that. He promised to introduce the Traffic Bill this session and he has not done so.
