Vol. 186 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Reclamation in Wexford.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is aware that there is a delay of approximately one year in getting final approval for land reclamation applications in County Wexford; and if in view of the importance of this work in the effort for greater agricultural production, he will recruit more staff so that applications for land reclamation work can be dealt with in a much shorter time.

While there are arrears of applications to be investigated under the Land Project in Co. Wexford as in some other areas, the number of approved schemes issued in Co. Wexford in 1960 was greater than in any of the previous three years and was substantially in excess of the number of applications received in the year. I have also initiated measures aimed at reducing the time taken to deal with applications.
