andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Transport and Power the total outlay and expenditure to the most recent date for which figures are available on the provision of the Shannon Airport buildings, facilities, equipment and aircraft, the total operating costs of the facilities at the airport since its inauguration to the most recent date and the total amount of revenue taken in landing fees and facilities, as well as from passenger expenditure in transit at the airport, from the date of its inauguration.

Particulars of expenditure and revenue on Shannon Airport (including Foynes) to the 31st March, 1960 are as follows:—

capital expenditure on the provision of buildings, facilities and equipment £4,137,443; total operating cost of facilities £5,756,660 in addition to £3,543,607 for interest on capital expenditure and depreciation, and £362,690 for pension liability; total revenue including landing fees, rents, concession fees and profit on catering and sales at the Airport £4,976,469.

There was no expenditure on aircraft as they do not form part of the facilities provided at the Airport.
