Vol. 186 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry and Land Commission Workers' Holidays.

61.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has yet made a decision on the granting of two holidays to Forestry and Land Commission workers in lieu of the 6th January and the 29th June.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given earlier today by the Minister for Industry and Commerce to a question which the Deputy asked concerning pending legislation in regard to holidays. The extent of the holidays allowed to Forestry and Land Commission labourers will be reviewed in due course in the light of the proposed legislation.

Surely it does not need legislation to give these workers holidays in lieu of 6th January and 29th June which up to last year were holydays of obligation?

I would suggest to the Deputy that he should wait until the legislation comes along, when he will have a full opportunity of expressing his viewpoint on that.
