asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the amount of money saved by his Department since 1st August, 1959, by the introduction of the group system of telephone exchanges, and the consequent reduction in payments to subpostmasters.

The answer is nil. The effect of the change was to convert a great number of trunk calls into local calls at an estimated cost of £160,000 a year.
