Vol. 186 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Valentia Harbour Survey.

30.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that a few years ago a survey of Valentia Harbour and the channel leading to Cahirciveen, County Kerry, was made with a view to dredging it and to erecting buoys where necessary; and if he will state the result of the survey and the present position with regard to it.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Question 28, 29 and 30 together. My function in the case of fishery harbours is to recommend a contribution from State funds towards the cost of improvements, where I am satisfied that the outlay involved would be justified in the interest of fisheries. For each of the proposals mentioned by the Deputy, engineering advice is awaited from the Office of Public Works.
