Vol. 186 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Mayo Bridges.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will re-erect the bridge over the river at Shranakelly, Bellacorick, County Mayo.

The only possibility of having this work carried out by means of a grant from the funds at my disposal is under the rural improvements scheme which requires a contribution by the beneficiaries towards the cost of the work, and if an application is submitted under that scheme the case will receive careful consideration. The beneficiaries were informed accordingly on 10th September, 1959, 7th December, 1959, and 29th November, 1960, but no application has so far been received.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance if the Office of Public Works will replace the bridge over the river in Skirdagh Upper, County Mayo, which was washed away four years ago.

I cannot trace receiving any application for the replacement of a bridge over the river in Skerdagh Upper, referred to by the Deputy. If the beneficiaries submit an application for the work under the rural improvements scheme I shall have the matter considered sympathetically.
