Vol. 186 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Kildare Estate.

36.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have considered the propriety of acquiring the balance of the Owens Estate at Kilmoroney, Athy; and, if so, how the matter now stands.

In 1955, the Land Commission acquired 236 acres at Kilmorony, Co. Laois, on this estate. Following a public hearing, an Objection by the owner was allowed in respect of the balance of the estate comprising 112½ acres at Grangemellon, Co. Kildare.

Do I take it, therefore, that the Land Commission have now no proceedings in hands for the acquisition of the balance of this estate?

No. The position is that the courts have upheld the owner's objection in respect of the balance of the estate.
