Vol. 186 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Telephone Calls: Unit Value to Subpostmasters.

51.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs what unit value a subpostmaster in charge of a telephone call office receives for a local call.

A sub-postmaster is paid a cash allowance of £1 1s. Od. per annum plus bonus in respect of a call-office on his premises. Where the call-office is connected directly to an exchange at another office, then if there is a coin box no extra payment is made for calls but if there is no coin box, he is paid 10 per cent. of the fees for local calls in excess of £10 10s. Od. per annum. In addition, where the sub-postmaster operates the exchange to which the call-office is connected he receives a line allowance which varies according to circumstances and is given half a unit credit for each call made to another exchange.
