Vol. 186 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Nursing Homes: Inspection and Registration.

4.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Health whether in view of the increasing demand for the compulsory inspection and registration of, and minimum standards of care and skill in, nursing homes he will now take effective steps to deal with the problem.

I would draw the attention of the Deputy to my reply of 25th February, 1960, to a similar question.

I have since received no evidence of the general existence of conditions which would warrant interference in this matter by way of State registration of nursing homes and do not propose to introduce legislation on it in the present Dáil.
