Vol. 187 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Plastic Containers.

20.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if in view of the danger of suffocation of young children by plastic bags, he will take steps to compel the manufacturers of such plastic containers to imprint in red on every such bag a legible warning of the dangers of leaving such bags accessible to children.

This is one of the matters which I have had under consideration in connection with the proposed amendment of the law in relation to Industrial Research and Standards and I propose, in the amending Bill, to seek appropriate powers to enable me to deal with problems of this kind.
