Vol. 187 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Health Services.

2.

asked the Minister for Health when he hopes to have the reorganisation of the health services in County Kildare completed.

I understand the Deputy's question refers to the reorganisation of certain dispensary districts in County Kildare. A revised scheme for the reorganisation of dispensary districts in the southern half of the county, submitted by the Kildare County Council to my Department some time ago, has been under examination by the Department in consultation with the local authority. Examination of the scheme is nearing completion and I expect to be in a position to convey my decision on it to the local authority soon. Before the scheme can be implemented, however, it will be necessary for me to make an Order under Section 51 of the Health Act, 1953, giving legal effect to the revision of the dispensary districts concerned. The requisite preliminaries for the making of this Order will take some little time but they will be completed as soon as possible.

Could the Minister elaborate on the word "soon"?

In the near future.

Within the next three months?

That I am not inclined to prognosticate.
