Vol. 187 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Saving on Social Assistance Vote.

5.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the amount that will be saved from the Social Assisttance Vote in the current year through transference of the payment of certain pensions from that vote to the Social Insurance Vote.

The amount that will be saved from the Social Assistance Vote in the current financial year through transference of certain Old Age Pensions from the non-contributory to the contributory schemes is estimated at £598,000.

Would the Minister not have saved a lot of trouble if he had given us that information last Thursday?

That would have been quite disorderly.

It would have been quite accurate.
