Vol. 187 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Annuities on Meath Holdings.

30.

asked the Minister for Lands under what Land Act and in what year the tenants' allotments on the Mervyn Pratt Estate at Garadice, Kilcock, County Meath, were purchased, and the year in which annuities will cease to be payable by the many allottees involved.

Advances for the purchase of holdings on this estate were made under the Irish Act, 1903 —forty-six of the advances being made on 19th March, 1920, and two on 3rd March, 1922.

Whilst the normal period of repayment in respect of advances made under the 1903 Act is approximately 69 years, the duration of repayments of any Land Purchase Annuity is subject to variation—depending on such factors as consolidation of holdings, addition of a Funding Annuity under the Land Act, 1933, or charging of an additional annuity in repayment of an improvement or reclamation advance. Thus, the repayment period in any case depends on the particular circumstances of that holding and, even at this stage, may be subject to future variation.

In the circumstances, it is not possible to furnish the general information requested in the last part of the Question. If the Deputy is interested in any individual case, I would suggest that he communicate direct with the Land Commission in the matter.
