The report referred to is incorrect in stating that a tender of £1,633 per house was received by Limerick Corporation for these houses. That figure was the preliminary estimate made by the Corporation of the cost of the scheme at the planning stage. The lowest acceptable tender received in due course was £1,807 per house and Limerick Corporation itself decided not to accept this tender but to readvertise the scheme with some modifications. As a result, a tender of £1,737 per house was received. This tender was accepted by Limerick Corporation and approved by me in the exceptional circumstances in regard to the shortage of skilled labour in the area and the large amount of site works and one-sided development required in that particular scheme.
Is the Minister aware that Deputy O'Malley has already got this reply from the City Manager of Limerick?
