Resolution No. 6—Customs and Excise. - Resolution No. 9—Death Duties.

I move:—

(1) That subsection (1) of section 24 of the Finance Act, 1960 (No. 19 of 1960), shall be repealed.

(2) That where the net value of the property, real and personal, passing on the death of the deceased, exclusive of property settled otherwise than by the will of the deceased, does not exceed five thousand pounds, legacy and succession duties shall not be payable under the will or intestacy of the deceased in respect of that property.

(3) That the provisions contained in the foregoing paragraphs shall have effect only in relation to persons dying after the passing of the Act giving effect to those provisions.
