Vol. 188 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Forestry Lands.

6.

asked the Minister for Lands the number of acres of land offered to the Forestry Division of his Department in the Ballycastle area, County Mayo, during the last three years, giving the size and townland of each area offered; and the amount acquired, giving the size and townland of each area acquired.

The total area offered to the Forestry Division of my Department in the Ballycastle Forest district in the last three years was 8,302 acres. In the same period a total area of 2,856 acres was acquired for State forestry purposes in the district. Owing to the large number of cases involved and to the private nature of the negotiations it would be neither practicable nor desirable to give detailed information as to the location and area of each individual lot offered or acquired.
