Vol. 189 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification in County Galway.

13.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if the Electricity Supply Board current will be extended to (a) Cloonfee, Caltra, Ballinasloe, and (b) Galboley, Bullaun, Loughrea in County Galway.

I am informed by the E.S.B. that the Cloonfee district is included in the Ahascragh rural area which has been considered by the Board from time to time for development under the rural electrification scheme. So far it has not been successful and it is not possible to say when supply will be extended to it but it will be extended before the end of the present scheme.

With regard to Galboley, I am informed by the Board that this district is part of the Cnoc Breac rural area which was developed in 1955. As only two of the seven households in the Galboley district were prepared to accept supply on the terms quoted by the Board it was not feasible to connect the district. The Board state that they cannot trace any recent application for supply from the residents of Galboley.
