Vol. 189 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Cottage Schemes.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government if his Department received a proposal from Kerry County Council for the erection of a number of single service cottages; if so, on what date the proposal was received in his Department; and what is the location of each proposed cottage and the cause of the delay in giving sanction to the proposal.

Proposals from Kerry County Council for the provision of single serviced cottages at Lixnaw, Ballybunion and Ballyheigue were received in my Department on 1st December, 1960, 8th December, 1960, and 18th January, 1961, respectively. I informed the Council on 23rd December, 1960, that I was advised that the original plan proposed for the cottage at Lixnaw was unsuitable for that site and recommended that an alternative plan be prepared; this plan has not yet been received. Additional information which I requested on 13th February, 1960, is awaited from the council in connection with the Ballybunion proposal. A location map and site plan which I requested from the council on 3rd February, 1961, in connection with the Ballyheigue proposal were received in my Department on the 5th instant and the proposal is now being examined by my technical advisers. Approval has been given to proposals for the provision of single serviced cottages at Sneem and Castlegregory.
