Vol. 189 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arms Supplies for Irish Troops: NATO Agreement.

35.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Defence whether the recent arms supplies made to Irish troops from NATO sources represent in any way a departure from this country's hitherto militarily non-committed attitude between the NATO and the Warsaw Pact groupings.

36.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Defence whether the recent decision to accept arms for the Defence Forces from NATO sources was made by the Government solely or by any authority at UNO on this country's behalf.

With your permission, a Cheann Chomairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 35 and 36 together.

No arms supplies have been made to Irish troops from NATO sources nor has the question of accepting arms from such sources for the Defence Forces ever arisen.
