Vol. 189 No. 4

Written Answers. - Health Act Charges in Dublin.

43.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of Health Act charges collected by the health authorities in Dublin City and County for the year ended 31st March, 1960 (mentioned in a reply of 15th March, 1961), the amounts collected for each of the various classes of persons listed in paragraphs (a), (b), (c) and (d) of section 15 (2) of the Health Act, 1953, as amended; and if separate details are not available if he will state the approximate amount collected from insured persons.

I would direct the Deputy's attention to a similar question put to me on 23rd April, 1959, and to my reply in which I explained that many persons who receive health services as members of one eligible class could also be properly regarded as members of another eligible class. Many agricultural small-holders are also insured persons, and the majority of insured persons are also within the terms of the Acts by reason of their being persons whose yearly means do not exceed £800.

It would not be possible for these reasons to calculate the amount of income to health authorities appropriate to any one of the classes of persons referred to, and I do not consider that it would be possible to form any useful estimate of the amount collected from insured persons in Dublin City and County.
