Vol. 189 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flooding of Ballyline River (Kerry).

13.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the constant flooding of the Ballyline River, Ballylongford, County Kerry, is causing great hardship to local farmers and is holding up much valuable land reclamation work in the area; and that this river was surveyed some time ago under the Special Employment Schemes; and if in view of the serious damage being caused it will get immediate consideration.

An engineering survey of the Ballyline River has not been made by the staff of the Special Employment Schemes Office, and such information as is available to them indicates that the work would be outside the scope of the minor schemes undertaken by that office. The river has been noted for consideration in the arterial drainage programme, but I am unable to say at present when it can be reached.
