Vol. 189 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Remuneration of Chairman of Gaeltarra Éireann.

36.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht the remuneration paid to the Chairman of Gaeltarra Éireann.

Níl Cathaoirleach Ghaeltarra Éireann ag fáil aon luach saothair mar Chathaoirleach.

For record purposes, may I ask the Minister to repeat that answer in English?

We have this on every occasion——

I have never refused to give the English translation of a question to any Deputy who asks for it, even in cases where perhaps I should not.

The Chairman of Gaeltarra Éireann does not receive any remuneration as Chairman.

I want to ask is it not proper procedure that when a question is put down in English the Minister should have the manners to answer it in English and likewise when it is put down in Irish to answer it in Irish?

Irish and English are the official languages.

If I ask a question in English I expect the answer in English. Surely you can give a ruling on that, Sir?

What about the reverse case?
