asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state concerning the proposed joint drainage scheme for Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown what work is in progress at present; when the remainder of the scheme will be commenced; when it is expected that work will be completed; the number of men at present employed on the scheme; the estimated number of additional men to be employed on the work; and the total cost.

Work is in progress since October last in the Stillorgan-Deansgrange area on the Dublin County Council portion of the South County Dublin Surface Water Drainage Scheme. The estimated cost of this part of the scheme is £195,000 and the contract period is two years. I am informed that there are 32 men employed on the works at present and that this number is likely to be increased to 45 in the near future.
Contract documents and detailed plans have yet to be submitted for the Dún Laoghaire Corporation portion of the scheme. I am not in a position at this stage to say when these works will commence or to indicate the estimated cost.
