Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Representation of China in United Nations.

13.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he is aware that it is possible that the question of the representation of China may be placed on the agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation; and if, in the lift of the great public interest in this matter, he will state whether he proposes to support the claim of the Peking Government to represent China in the United Nations.

I am aware of the possibility to which the Deputy refers.

Should the question of the representation of China be inscribed for discussion in the General Assembly of the United Nations, the attitude of the Irish delegation would be determined by a number of considerations which I have often outlined and most recently in reply to a similar question by the Deputy on 21st March.
