Vol. 190 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Claremorris Post Office.

15.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the unsatisfactory condition of the post office buildings in Claremorris, County Mayo, with resultant detrimental effects on the health of the staff and impairment of efficiency in their duties and if he will take steps to remedy this situation forthwith.

The Post Office building at Claremorris is old and it has defects by modern standards but these are not such as to affect adversely the health of the staff or impair the efficiency of the service. It is intended to build a new Post Office in Claremorris and a site has been acquired. Preliminary sketch plans have been prepared but I cannot forecast at this stage when the new building will be provided.
