Vol. 191 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unsightly Advertising Hoardings.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he proposes to take effective steps to control the increasing number of unsightly advertising hoardings which are appearing throughout the State.

Provisions dealing with this matter will be included in the Local Government (Planning and Development) Bill, 1960. It is intended to confer powers on local authorities not only to control future advertising of this kind but also to secure the removal of existing hoardings. I consider it desirable to give a warning now that no compensation is proposed to be allowed in either case.
