Vol. 191 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dundalk Customs Station.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance when work on the proposed new Customs Road Station at Dundalk, County Louth, is likely to commence.

A site for the new Station is being acquired but at the present stage it is not possible to say when building work will commence.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that at the moment there is a grave traffic hazard because of the location of the present road station and that it is a mystery no serious accident has as yet occurred? Is he also aware that this has been on the stocks for a number of years past and that surely some further progress should have been made than has been made? Will he do all in his power to expedite the matter?

I am aware that there is a certain urgency. There was some difficulty over the site. The site has now been procured. Legal formalities have not yet been completed but it is hoped they will be soon.
