23.

asked the Minister for Education if in regard to the qualifications of an applicant for the post of teacher of electrical engineering, higher technical grade, in Kevin Street Technical School, which were set out on the form recently circulated to members of the appointing committee, he is satisfied that the applicant was correctly described as not qualified on experience in view of his actual experience since becoming a graduate of the Institution of Electrical Engineers in 1944.

24.

asked the Minister for Education if he is satisfied that the applicant (name supplied) who had experience not substantially different from the experience held by another applicant (name supplied) for the post of teacher of electrical engineering, higher technical grade, is correctly described as "qualified" in the form circulated to the members of the appointing committee.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to reply to questions 23 and 24 together.

The only person about whose qualifications I have to be satisfied is the person whose appointment is submitted to me for sanction. My only function in the matter is to ensure that the person appointed is qualified in accordance with the advertised qualifications.
