Vol. 191 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Amendment of Dentists Act, 1928.

6.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Health whether it is proposed to amend the Dentists Act, 1928, before the dissolution of the Dáil; if so, whether he intends to introduce provision for a separate prosthetic service allowing for the establishment of a separate qualification of prostheticist for dental technicians which will enable such people to make and fit dentures where needed.

I do not intend to ask the Government for authority to introduce any legislation to amend the Dentists Act, 1928, before the dissolution of the present Dáil. The latter part of the question does not, therefore, arise.

I might add, however, that I have recently received representations in regard to the establishment of a separate prosthetic service. The suggestion is under examination.
