Vol. 191 No. 8

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business, as on the Order Paper, in the following order: Nos. 4, 16 (Votes 42, 51, 52 and 53), 7, 17, and revert to No. 16 (Votes 39, 40 and 41). It is proposed to take item No. 52, which is a Private Member's Motion, with the Estimate for Roinn na Gaeltachta. Questions will be taken at 3 p.m. It is proposed that the consideration of Government business be not interrupted at the time fixed for the business of Private Members.

Would the Tánaiste say whether it is intended to concentrate on the Estimates until they are finished?

With the exception of No. 17 on the Order Paper, the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill, which must be passed before 1st August.

Is it hoped to finish the Estimates by this week?

I should hope to. Whether we will be allowed to or not is another matter.

Do not get disputative so early in the morning.

Is it proposed to sit on Friday?

The Deputy had better ask that question tomorrow.

The Tánaiste seems to be by-passing his responsibilities as Leader of the House these days.

Is it not a fact that it is proposed the Whips should meet to consider this matter?

Yes; quite right.

It would have been much easier if the Tánaiste had said that.
