Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rathdown (Dublin) Housing Needs.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the need for more houses in the Rathdown area of County Dublin; what plans the Dublin County Council have for additional houses there, and the location of each such scheme; when work will commence on these schemes; and what work is at present in progress on any schemes in the area.

I understand from Dublin County Council that there is a need for further houses in some areas in Rathdown. A site has been acquired and detailed plans are being prepared for a scheme of 88 houses at Dundrum. It is expected that work on the scheme will begin early next year. The question of acquisition of a site for a scheme at Ballyboden is being examined. There are schemes of 34 and 28 houses, respectively, in progress at Stillorgan and Shankill and I understand that the possible need for further houses at these centres for which sites are available is being kept under review.
