The conditions applicable to the State grant for the Galway harbour improvement scheme include the submission of plans, specifications, estimates and contract documents for my approval before tenders for the carrying out of the work are invited. The submission of the necessary plans, etc. by the Galway Harbour Commissioners is awaited.
Final arrangements for the appointment of the consulting engineer agreed by the Department and the Harbour Commissioners were authorised on May 12th. Since then it is a matter for the Harbour Commissioners to take the next steps both in regard to the appointment of the consulting engineer and the furnishing of contract documents.
