Vol. 191 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin District Milk Board: Conditions of Employment.

28.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will consider amending existing legislation in order to relieve him of the restrictive powers held by him in relation to the conditions of employment of officers and servants of the Dublin District Milk Board, so as to permit the Board and its employees to avail themselves, at their discretion, of the services of the Labour Court in resolving disputes as to salary levels and conditions of employment.

Questions as to the remuneration of employees of milk boards have been referred to the Labour Court on a number of occasions. Accordingly I am not aware that the legislation to which the Deputy refers is restrictive.

Would the Minister consider giving the clerical staff the same rights in regard to the Labour Court?

The Deputy is extending the scope of his question. He had better put another question to the Minister for Agriculture.

In view of the fact that the question refers to the employment of "officers and servants"——

They have been before the court.

The clerical staff have not. I would ask the Minister to reinvestigate the matter.

If the Deputy wants to get an answer to that, he had better put down another question.
